If you’ve always wanted to learn how to sew, this is your chance! Even if you’ve never touched a sewing machine before, we’ll take you from zero to sewing in just three hours. You’ll even make a fun project to take home with you.
Learn to Sew: Pincushion or Coasters ($35)
Saturday, Sept. 14 — 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
This crash course will get you comfortable with using a sewing machine, whether you’re brand new to sewing or just need a refresher course. You’ll learn the basics of threading a machine, winding a bobbin, straight stitching, back stitching, zig-zag stitching and other key topics. We’ll make a project you can take home with you — either a cute pin cushion or a set of functional coasters.
- your sewing machine, pedal, and power cord, along with a few extra bobbins and the manual, if you have it (if you don’t have a machine, contact A-1 Sewing & Vacuum about the possibility of borrowing one)
- pre-cut charm square pack, or several pieces of fabric you like that are at least 5″ x 5″
- spool of all-purpose sewing thread to coordinate with your fabric
At least three students must be registered for class to take place. Otherwise, class will be canceled and refunds will be issued. Call or stop by A-1 Sewing & Vacuum to register (352-371-9464).
